We want your stories!

UUFR was founded in 1949… which means 2024 is our 75th anniversary year! And do we have a story to tell! UUFR has been making a difference in the lives of members, friends and the larger community for three quarters of a century. In order to tell our story, however, we need your story – your experience of UUFR. Stories that demonstrate the values and principles our community espouses. Stories that show what “liberally religious” means in action. Stories that are personal and reflect your experience as a part of this community. For more guidance and information, click here:

We hope that you will actively participate in our story-collection project by putting pen to paper. Below are some questions to get you thinking about the stories that you have to share. Please don’t feel you need to answer each question – short pieces with even just a few paragraphs are fine!

1. What made you want to join UUFR, whether that was 35 years ago or 5 months ago?

2. Talk about a time when UUFR and/or UUFR members especially touched your life.

3. What has been most meaningful to you about your association with UUFR?

4. How have you seen UUFR make a difference in the life of the larger community?

5. How has UUFR made a difference in your life?

6. When you were particularly proud to be a member of UUFR?

7. How has UUFR and/or its membership supported you in times of difficulty?

8. What group or groups have you participated in, and how has that participation enriched your life? (Choir, Chalice Circles, Outreach, Social Justice, Stitchers, etc.)

9. What activity or event stands out in your memory as particularly enjoyable and/or meaningful?

10. When did you have the most fun at UUFR?

11. How have you served as a volunteer here, and how has that affected you?

12. What story would you tell to demonstrate why others might want to join this community?

We are looking for substance and meaning, more than style and literary value. You are highly encouraged to include photos to embellish your story. If you feel especially creative, you may want to share a story through song or poetry. Whatever form you choose, we hope you will begin reminiscing and writing! Submit your stories to the Anniversary project, by emailing to stories@UUFR.org.
