Join us in celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility

The importance of a Radical, Transformational, Welcome is a free, 16 min video by Zr. Alex Kapitan in which he outlines the distinction between “invitation”, “inclusion”, and “radical welcome” in UU congregations. We invite you to be a part of a Radical Welcome by joining us in celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility Saturday, March 30th, at 10:00 a.m. in Founders’ Hall. See Hal Barcus’ invitation to the congregation. (Once you are at the UUFR Facebook page click <cntrl F> and type “Hal Barcus” to jump to his post) Mayor Baldwin and Council Member Jane Harrison will be joining us for a potluck brunch with fellowship, live music, and poetry/spoken word. Everyone is welcome to this family-friendly event! Childcare is available upon request, please identify how many children will need care when you register to attend here. Use the tabs at the bottom of the sheet to indicate if you would like to participate in the open mic session and if you will be bringing food. Nothing says love like a homemade dish. If you want to contribute food, but can not attend, you can drop it off in the Founders’ Hall Kitchen in the refrigerators or on the counters: —–Friday morning. 3/29, between 8:30 am – 11:30 am, —–Friday night. 3/29, between 7:00 pm and 9:00, pm, or —–Saturday morning, 3/30, between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. You can drop off books for the transgender book exchange at the same time. Equality NC, PFLAG, the Raleigh LGBTQ Center, the Durham LGBTQ Center, Free Mom Hugs, the NCSU Pride Center, and Moms/Be Smart will each have tables with resources and swag. All are welcome! You do not have to be a UUFR Member, transgender, bring food, or pre-register to attend (though pre-registering helps us know how many tables to set up). For more information on how you can get involved in supporting the transgender community go here. We look forward to seeing you there!
