Request for Black Lives Matter Flag

The Addressing Institutional Racism Committee of the Board requested a Black Lives Matter Flag to be hung at UUFR in order to support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) at UUFR as well as to attract additional BIPOC to attend. Although the Black Lives Matter flag was created by the Black Lives Matter movement, it has a much more general meaning of supporting BIPOC people, rather than the specific organization. UUFR has a flag for the LGBTQ community and an environmental concerns flag. At the BIPOC discussion group led by Dr. Nichols some of the participants have wondered why UUFR does not have a Black Lives Matter flag supporting their community.
