Gentle Yoga

Tuesdays from 6:30 – 7:30 pm, starting September 12th (Founder’s Hall) UUFR member and certified yoga instructor Ben Clarke (RYT-500, HHP) will focus on techniques to improve your well-being. This gentle, low-to-the-ground class will help guide your attention inward to create a space within yourself for healing, connection, love, and joy. Physical practice will focus on body awareness and improving flexibility, and will include time spent on our backs, on our bellies, in seating postures, and on our knees. Breathing practice will be an integral part of linking your mind to your body and helping you connect within and to your higher self. Yoga means union — the classes will unite mind, body, and soul in a safe, supportive space at UUFR. The class is appropriate for all levels, from beginners to regular practitioners. Please bring a yoga mat to each class. $10 donation suggested. Clarke started his yoga practice after a cancer diagnosis in 2016 as a way of recovering from chemo and surgeries. He’s found it to be pivotal in helping him re-inhabit his body, reduce stress and anxiety, build back strength, and improve flexibility and energy levels. He became a certified yoga teacher in 2018, and he’s been a Holistic Health Practitioner since 2012. For Clarke, yoga is about calming the mind and warming the body. He strives to create a safe space for your yoga practice and offers options in his classes to encourage you to listen to your body and take the option that’s right for you. All are welcome to walk their journey with yoga.
