Rev. Sasha is honored and delighted to announce that she has been selected as the candidate for the position of settled minister at the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in New Jersey, about an hour away from New York City.
Morristown UU, or “MUUF,” is a congregation of about 250 members and was founded in 1955. They are spiritually alive, justice centered, and radically inclusive, with a mission to “nurture a spiritual home where all are welcome and encouraged to participate in a universal search for truth and meaning while working together to build a fair and peaceful world.”
MUUF is a Welcoming Congregation, a Green Sanctuary, and an Honor Congregation, and adopted the 8th Principle in 2021. They are a vibrant community with many opportunities for their members to connect with each other for spiritual deepening. However, their ministry is not confined to their four walls but expands out into the local community. The congregation has worked for food security, affordable housing, immigration and refugee justice and participates in their UU statewide advocacy network, UU Faith Action NJ, to work on issues such as health care, economic and environmental justice, marriage equality, and immigration reform.
Rev. Sasha is over the moon to have been offered the opportunity to be their candidate for settled minister and will be visiting Morristown UU for over a week later this month. During that time, she will worship with them, connect with all of the people and teams who call MUUF their spiritual home, and dream with them about their future. At the end of that week, the congregation will gather for a special meeting and vote on whether to call Rev. Sasha as their next minister. If all goes well, they will embark on their shared ministry in August, just one month before UUFR welcomes your new Assistant Minister, Rev. Carrie McEvoy.
Rev. Sasha will miss everyone at UUFR dearly, but thankfully it isn’t time to say goodbye just yet! She will remain at UUFR for several more weeks, and her last day in the office will be on June 30. You will have plenty of opportunities to say farewell in the coming months, including on her last day in the pulpit on Sunday, June 23.
